Ok, ok, So I'm a lil

Anyways, as
most of you have heard<via the Last Issue> Chromhenge went
through a big change.
Now instead of running on a Macintosh, they are
running on a OS/2
based machine. For BBS software they've changed from
Hermes to Maximus.
What has changed
on Chromhenge? Well, the Ansi's are different, the Menu's
different, and just
about everything else(execpt the Users). Chromhenge also
has a new name, Chromhenge
ã, to represent what version of Chromhenge it is.
The number is still
the same (403-225-2221), and all the nodes work. So far
there havn't been
too many problems with the new system, and the nifty
little Hard Drive
flashing on the Files menu is cute. Overall it the same
board with new features
and new menus. So, what are you waiting for, CALL
IT ALREADY!

Well,
if you paid attention in the last issue, you would know a little
about the game and
how it is played. I am here to, well, sort of review an
actual moment in the
game. One thing for sure is unless you have played
games in this format
before, you'll have alot to learn before even playing.
I started out by nagging
(not a good choice for all) Nscafe to teach and let
me play. I wanted
to read all that I could, but he wouldn't let me, He said
"NO WAY! I don't want
you bugging me with questions all through the game,
you'll read what I
give you." By the way that's a point I'll digress on
later.
Start
out with the main book, you will find stuff on all the main clans
there, but there are
more then the 7 Camarilla Clans, there are Sabbat Clans
and No Clan (Caitiff).
Once you've looked at the clans you can choose what
clan you wish your
Character to be. I was informed that I had to play
Toreador, these are
the artists, I wanted to choose my own, but after
reading up on the
Toreador in the Clan Book, I agree wholeheartedly and
began to create my
character (which still isn't done).
So what
now? Do I wait for the real game? Nope, we have a pre-game for
those not aquainted
with the game. If your Character is not form by this
time, it is just a
easy to play a Template Character, one that is already
made in the Clan Book.
This is what I did and we began. Oops! I almost
forgot, you'll need
D10 Dice. We are sitting at a table and Nscafe begins.
It's all verbal but
you can do actions, say where you are going, what you are
doing, and that like.
These are good things to do, because they will gain
you experience points
with the Storyteller. There is dice rolling involved
but not a whole lot,
and for what there is, you'll need alot of D10's, I
only had three to
start with, I now have 5, but i intend to buyat least 15
or 20. You don't have
to have that many I guess, but it doesn't hurt either.
Now this
is where I digress about the Storyteller. Do not under any
circumstances annoy
the Storyteller. Don't repeat yourself over and over
because you don't
think he's paying attention. There is always more than one
player in the game,
and the Storyteller has to deal with them all. For
instance, the Storyteller
and a Player are interacting, your charachter
decides to walk ahead.
Go ahead and say "I am walking further ahead to check
it out." The Storyteller
has heard you, but is in the middle of taking care
of the other Player,
if after he is done and he hasn't acknowledged that
you've walked ahead,
then say "Hey, I walked ahead eh."
It's
a real good game, with alot of intereaction going on, and imagining
things. Play your
Character to the hilt, you allowed props after all (just be
considerate of the
Storyteller and try not to have more props than he does)
and above all, this
is where I speak from experience, don't fall into any
Nosferatu fungi, you
will stink horribly, and don't dowse yourself in perfume
afterward because
perfume in flamable, and a Vampire on fire is a dead one.

Do you remember
when AD&D was REALLY big in the late eighties? I do,
everyone was playing
it, and up until 2years ago it still was the _BIG_
thing. Now it was
simple enough to learn, and you could kill things<all the
makings of a Great
Game right?>. Well, now there's a new game on the scene,
Vampire: The Masquerade.
Now I'm not surprised that it hit the
'henge&Dischordia
scene so quickly. I'm just wondering if people are taking
the time to understand
the game, instead of going on someone else's word.
Now that VtM
is out, flocks and hordes of people are switching over to it,
because of Kindred:
The Embraced, and because or word of mouth. The game may
seem complcated at
first, but it's easy after awhile. I recommend for a new
player to get the
main book, and perhaps whatever Clan book they are
interested in. I also
recommend that they sit in on a session of playing to
see if they really
like it or not. Every session is different, and moods,
and props will vary
from Storyteller to Storyteller. If you have any
questions about VtM
don't hesitate to email me at [email protected].
